St. Stanislaus
Hi Priya,
I am an ex-student and have been reading about the BMC wanting to take over a part of the church and school grounds for widening of the road.
The question is will the space be used by the general Public or will it be given to hawkers for their personal income?
The BMC should first remove the hawkers and illegal constructions that have come up and then there will be no need to widen the road.
My suggestion would be to build flyovers or underground roads, or ask some professional for their opinions.
Hope the BMC comes up with an alternate solution.
Hope your effort will stop them destroying my school.
Vincent.

BMC, St. Stanislaus and St. Andrews
Dear Priya Dutt,
As an ex-Stanilite and a current parishioner of St.Andrews chruch I beg of you to please stop the BMC from taking over land from St.Stanislaus and St.Andrew's church.
St.Stanislaus has provided education to over thousands of youth and has given them the finest education that our system has to offer. St.Andrews has always and still plays a huge part of building a secular culture in Bandra.
It is my humble request to you not to allow the BMC to take over their land.

Your sincerely,
Ian Loyola

St Stanislaus School
Dear Priya,

I am an ex Stanislite...an ex Bandra resident... now living in Perth, Western Australia.

I was absolutely astounded to hear of the BMC's intention to widen the road and thus sacrifice the grounds of St Stanislaus and St Peter's Church.

I treasured these very grounds where I learnt to play sport - hockey and football - from where I went on to play hockey for my beloved country, India in the 1st and 2nd World Cups. Those are memories I hold very dear and proudly show my sons on visits to Bandra.

My late father-in-law, Charles Menezes was also a Stanislite who then lived in Tanzania, East Africa for 36 years and he would have been appalled at the intended damage to the long standing heritage of St Stanislaus.

I sincerely hope that armed with our heartfelt requests you will avert this great destruction to our history.

Yours in Sport

Please Stop It!!
Hello Priya,

I am shocked that such proposal could even come up and be carried out. I spent only 4 years of my schooling life in St. Stanislaus and treausre it every bit. Nothing and no part of the school premises should ever be destroyed.

I am currently in the US and I am sad that i couldn't be back in Mumbai to be a part of this protest.

Please stop this from happening. I fully support you and so do thousands of other Bandrites and Stanislites.

Regards,
Sebastin

Please save St Stanislaus High School
Dear Priya

I am an expatriate of Bandra and now live in Perth, Western Australia. Both my brothers are ex-Stanislites, so I was disheartened to learn of the proposal by the BMC to widen Hill Road by taking over part of St Stanislaus. Its history and heritage are very sentimental to me and my family, therefore I am against such an integral part of its premises being destroyed.

We often visit our hometown and each time notice more hawkers taking over the foothpaths on Hill Road. Its no wonder people have to walk on the road causing a hinderance to traffic!

St Stanislaus is a great Institution and landmark and should not be reclaimed for road widening. How can you allow the destruction of a 143 year heritage? Should this not be protected by some heritage law?

I do hope and pray you are able to do something about this.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Kind regards

Save St. Stanisluas grounds
Thank you for all your efforts Priya, a sincere request to save the heritage that has been built over decades. The solution cannot be attained by targeting old established structures that serve a purpose of educating and building the foundations of so many young people, but by eradicating the root cause as so many have mentioned before.

Regards,
Raj

Widening hill road
Saving Bandra's Heritages!!
Dear Ms. Dutt,
This is wih refernce to proposed plan to widen Hill Road by breaking down one of the oldest educational institutions in the city of Mumbai ie St. Stanislaus.
The current state of affairs has been caused by the apathy of the BMC, who have been turning a blind eye to the constant expansion of business by the hawkers as a result of increased road encriachments.

One only needs to look at the opposite side of the road to view the efforts of the last road expansion where St. Josephs convent was asked to give up land for road exansion which has ultimately been utilised to provide hawers additional, legal hawking space which has ulitmately led to the further congestions.

Given the past record of the BMC road widening efforts on Hill road, is it prudent to take away precious space that is currently used to train and educate the future leaders and sportsmen of our country ??

Let the BMC firstget rid off all the Hawkers on Hill road, and lets review what that does for the congetsion over a period of a year before they decide to tear down various heritage structures on Hill Road.

Please do not let them destroy what has what has been built over many lifetimes!!

Road Widening!
Dear Priya,
Please put this first on your list of priorties by saving St Stanisclaus, St Andrew's and the Agiyari you are saving a whole generation of Indians, because after all it is all these factors that contribute to forming an indiviual and one's perspective to life. Hill Road needs other stuff like illegal vendors and car parking problems resolved. Education and culture and more people like you is what our country needs, I am proud to be a successful Indian in the U.S and I owe it to my background ... so please save this situation so we can more educated motivated people.
