Lean on me

Today, our youth forms the largest segment of our country’s populace.
The pressures on this group are immense, and continue to rise. Today our teenagers face pressures of all kinds, from academic to social, emotional and domestic. Competition is fierce, and the will to win fiercier. As the stress keeps on growing, we face the constant danger of our kids sucumbing to this pressure in various ways. Lean On Me is just our way of reminding our children to Lean On us when they need us.
Teen stress is on the rise, we need to act now.
In a recent survey of high school students, the following was found:
- Almost 1 in 5 teens are under stress.
- About 1 in 6 teens had reached avoidable levels of depression, and
- More than 1 in 12 teens attempted reckless way of dealing with this stress.
The root cause -
- A breakdown in the communication system
- A growing disparity between the victim and his surroundings…
- Domestic Pressure
- Unfair Judgment by Role Models (Teachers, Principal, Friends, Siblings, etc)
- The Child himself
Lean On Me aims to bridge this gap…
A project that will establish a support system for anybody who needs a listening ear & a helping hand
Our Message to the teen group is simple:
IF YOU NEED US, WE ARE THERE FOR YOU…
WE CAN WORK IT OUT – TOGETHER……
Initiated by a group of concerned citizens comprising of educators, teachers, students councilors and prominent citizens like MP Priya Dutt, the project will consist of the following committee:
- Front end - Initiators
- Communicators – Word spreaders
- Backend - Enablers
Three Important steps to be taken throughout the campaign are :
- Engaging The Parents
- Working with the Educators
- Listening to the Child
